Project summary
Cities in North-West Europe face problems with flooding, droughts, and water shortages, which are increasing due to climate change. Natural and artificial water systems no longer function as they used to, leading to challenges with water quality and availability.
The RAINBOW project aims to make cities more resilient
by improving soil and groundwater management. A "Sponge City Strategy"
is being developed to help cities better store and use water. Action plans and pilot
projects will be implemented in four cities (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France).
A toolbox with solutions will be created so other cities can apply similar measures.
Training for stakeholders will strengthen knowledge and skills in resilient water
management.
